19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks the player's initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.
The win also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.
His defensive strategy and recurring reactions on court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional title, took control to force a third set.
The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
