In a bizarre crossover event that challenges traditional predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal release, "A strange confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome changes echo through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden cult.

The adventure concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Changes

The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Additional Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana in addition to several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's newest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This signifies scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
